Garden City

Nikolay Sardamov and Ventsislava Vasileva each approach the topic of Garden City in their own way.

The Bulgarian jewelry artist understands the city, with its parks and gardens, as an aesthetic experiment involving harmony and subordination, and as a link between geometric architecture and the organic forms of the plants. Beginning with a simple circular shape, he relies on a process of doubling to construct his jewelry's sometimes complex compositions so that the straight-lined forms acquire an increasingly organic quality.

The photographer Ventsislava Vasileva sees a city's park as a place to be alone, to think things over and to contemplate. This Bulgarian's series consists of eight photos, some taken with the camera in a mobile phone, others shot with an analogue camera.
